A friend asked if we could make 2025 Bingo cards at my New Year's Eve party, and I was more than happy to whip up this activity! I had no idea how deeply this practice would resonate with me, though.
I tested it on my family first - a rather intimidating group - and it was a hit!
For an hour, eight of us, ages 21-80, sat at the kitchen table, surrounded by pens, Sharpies, and Crayola Twistables, and sipping some sort of caffeinated beverage. We talked, dreamed, shared, and kept secrets.
We laughed at the sharp contrast of the men's cards versus the women's cards...think less doodles, less color, and a lot more acronyms (lol).
And when we were all done, my 23 year old brother had us to go around the table multiple times to share some of our squares.
It was a precious bonding moment for a family spread out between four states, two time zones, and ten different lives.
Some of us shared dreams we hope will be realized in 2025. Others shared "must dos" that we've been putting off (ahem that dentist appointment). We touched on mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
And you better believe we'll be talking about them year-round...while the goal is of course a blackout (all squares marked), the first Bingo deserves a prize, right?!
With the test run completed, I printed out templates for my party - a template you can use, too!
One of our friends did mention that it was a lot of squares to fill (there's 24 ), and she's right! It definitely took us some time to make these. So I also made a mini version with only eight squares!
Here's how to make your Bingo Card!
Gather up your creative supplies! This can include gel pens, markers, colored pencils, crayons, washi tape, stickers, and calligraphy pens. Don't go buy anything - just use what you have on hand!
Brainstorm your squares! Try to choose things that you can do and control. For example, "restore sisterly bond" depends on someone other than you. So try "call sister 1x/week," instead! Don't set yourself up for failure.
Here's some ideas to get your creative juices flowing!
Physical: schedule physical, go to the dentist, run a half marathon, hit 10,000
steps daily, hike 10 state parks, wear makeup once a week
Mental: meditate 10 minutes every day, make a weekly gratitude list, journal
3x/week, finish course to rewire my nervous system
Emotional: leave two hours of white space everyday, say "no" to plans on
Tuesdays, call family every week, do a body scan daily, start therapy
Spiritual: start a Bible reading plan, volunteer at church, donate $100/month to
a charity, listen to a new artist
Start filling in squares! I preferred to do my doodle first, then my words, and then color. But follow your own creative process! I promise there is no wrong way :)
And that's it! You can absolutely decide on small rewards for getting a bingo throughout the year, and you can do twists on this Bingo card, too. Use it as a family activity board, a date night card, or for work habits.
While I didn't try this out on any littles, I believe this would be age-appropriate for them, too!
I own a laminator, so I went ahead and laminated my bingo card in order to keep it pristine throughout the year (I can't find my exact one, but I linked a similar option)! I plan to use either a chalk marker or a whiteboard marker to mark squares when I complete them!
I hope this activity gives you some flexible structure for 2025, and I'd love to see your Bingo card if you try this out!
